Starting with inositol hexaphosphate (IP6)

Inositec’s drug discovery platform is based on IP6, a natural substance found in all eukaryotic cells. It is also the main phosphorous storage source in plant seeds, and is therefore a molecule with a wide variety of biochemical functions.

IP6 is also a part of our daily diet and constitutes roughly 2% of the dry weight of common grains such as rice, and has the status of a Generally Recognized As Safe compound from the FDA. These properties make IP6 a safe and attractive starting point for drug development.

Our proprietary platform of novel small molecules (Inosituneā„¢) consists of IP6 analogs. By selectively replacing some or all of the six phosphate groups on IP6 by other chemical groups, we are able to tune the properties of IP6 to obtain molecules with more favorable drug-like properties that can be tailored for use in different therapeutic indications.
